Dr. Pramod Kumar is having 34 years research experience in forestry. Main subjects of his research are Tree Physiology, Clonal propagation of trees, Tree improvement, Bamboo Propagation and production of quality planting material. He has published more than 80 research papers in journals of National and International repute. His notable achievements are root surface area measurement, conservation strategy of Boswellia serrata(salai), selection of candidate plus trees of teak in central India,  relationship of endogenous auxin (IAA) with the adventitious rooting in difficult-to-root Dalbergia latifolia and easy-to-root Dalbergia sissoo. He developed macro-propagation techniques for propagation of tree species likeDalbergia sissoo, Azadirachta indica, Pongamia pinnata, Tectona grandis, Albizia proceraand a user friendly technique of propagation through shoot cuttings in difficult-to-root Dalbergia latifolia. He successfully developed propagation practices for several bamboo species viz. Bambusa tulda, Bambusa nutans, Bambusa vulgaris, Dendrocalamus asper, etc. using culm-branch cuttings for production of bamboo plants.He is recipient of ICFRE award in the field of Silviculture research,NAAS Young Scientist Award and Indian Forester-Best Research Paper award. Presently working on improvement of Tectona grandis (Teak) and successfully established research plantations like Clonal Seed Orchard, Seedling Seed Orchard, Progeny trial and Germplasm bank of Teak within the Institute campus.
